The territory of Baunei and S. Maria Navarrese has recently become one of the most important climbing centres in Ogliastra: the famous peaks of Goloritzé, the popular rock-faces of the “Villaggio Gallico” and the newly equipped cliff-face right inside the tourist port. Different kinds of climbing and levels of difficulty.- something to suit everyone!!

BOAT TRIPS

Forty kilometres of coast in the wildest part of Sardinia. Discover this natural paradise of limestone grottoes, spectacular cliffs, hidden creeks and turquoise sea, aboard comfortable motor-boats or fast motor-dinghies, stopping at some of the most beautiful beaches in the Mediterranean: Cala Goloritzé, Cala Mariolu, The “fico” cave, Cala Sisine, Cala Luna, The “Bue Marino”cave.

SPELEOLOGY

The “Fico” cave is 7m above sea level, along the splendid limestone cliffs of the gulf of Orosei. Safe gangways will allow you to walk easily over the fossil bed of an ancient river and discover this mysterious and fascinating underground world. The cave is situated near the beautiful beaches of Cala Goloritzé, Ispulidenie and Cala Biriola. The marvellous “Su Meraculu” cave is located on the rocky slopes near the splendid beach of Cala Sisine (booking necessary). At Ulassai (40 km from S.Maria. Navarrese) visit the “Su Marmuri” cave, considered to be the most impressive in Europe thanks to its length of nearly 1 km and average height of 35m.-a truly unforgettable experience!

SANTA MARIA BY NIGHT...!!!

After dinner take a stroll along the sea front. Have a drink by the sea,  listen to live music under century-old olive trees or just admire the magnificent view from the panoramic terrace. From July to September there  are the “Rocce Rosse and Blues” concerts with artists of international fame such as Lou Reed, Eric Clapton, Patti Smith. Not to be missed!!
