The territory of Baunei and Santa Maria Navarrese, a splendid combination of sea and mountain, is very interesting from many points of view: the coast, 40 km of limestone bastions and cliffs dotted with little coves, from S. Maria Navarrese to Cala Luna. Leaving from the south the most renowned spots are: The stone peak of Pedra longa, Capo Montesanto, Portu Quau and Portu Pedrosu, Cala Biriala, Cala Goloritzé, Ispuligidenie(Cala Mariolu), Cala Sisine and Cala Luna; the landscape, spectacular rugged valleys, the basalt plateau of Golgo with Su Sterru, Europe’s deepest chasm, Margine characteristic limestone plateau; the fauna, several wild species such as the golden eagle, Eleonora’s falcon, Bonelli’s eagle, the Corsican seagull, the moufflon, the wild boar, the hawk, the peregrine falcon, etc; speleology, numerous caves and chasms situated both above and below sea level near the coast; history, necropolis, villages, fortresses and giants’ tombs from the pre-Nuragic and Nuragic periods, settlements and coins from the imperial and republican phases of Roman history, the medieval churches of Santa Maria Navarrese and Eltili, the Spanish tower and the church of Golgo.

For free-climbing enthusiasts the numerous recently equipped cliffs offer various opportunities to climb in a unique and wild place among rocky peaks and sheer cliffs overhanging the sea. Simply breathtaking!
